What can and cannot be funded?
- Medical education grants may be given only for legitimate educational purposes. Grants must also comply with internal company policies and guidelines, which reflect the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education Guidelines (ACCME).
- Grants cannot be tied, in any way, to past, present, or future prescribing, purchasing, or recommending of any current or future Vertex product. Any documentation that is a part of or accompanies a grant request suggesting that the grant is tied, in any way, to past, present, or future prescribing, purchasing, or recommending of any current or future Vertex product will cause the grant request to be declined.
Organizations we support
The organizations from which we will consider grant proposals for specific programs or activities include:
- ACCME-accredited providers of CME
- Healthcare institutions
- Non-profit organizations whose mission is to promote patient advocacy and patient education providers
We do not provide medical education grants to individuals.
Any grants provided by Vertex are not conditioned in any way on the use, purchase,
prescribing, or recommending for prescribing of any current or future Vertex product.
Budget Guidelines
- Grants must be limited to a reasonable estimate of the cost of the grant-funded activities.
- Grants may be issued to support only the costs associated with the development, delivery and/or evaluation of the educational program, resources, and/or materials.
- Recipients of funding are required to submit a completed program budget reconciliation form within 60 days of the program end date and return any unused funds.

In order to thoroughly evaluate each grant request, we require the following information to be submitted:
- Formal letter of request on requesting organization’s letterhead
- Detailed description of the activity to be supported, including (if applicable);
